SSD versus HDD

2:09:00 AM

SSD (Solid State Drive) serve the same purpose as other conventional HDD (Hard Disk Drive) but works using different mechanism. There are no moving parts in SSD thus provides more durability and better performance. Basically, it just like using your USB flash drive as your hard disk. In all aspects, SSD wins over HDD but for now the price for SSD still too high compared to HDD with ratio of 1:16. Meaning, you can buy 1 Terabyte HDD with the price of 60 Gigabyte SSD. The high-end SSD will cost you around RM3500++. These are cheapest models that you can find in the market.

MUSHKIN E.C.DLX SSD 40GB - RM359
CORSAIR F60 SSD 60GB - RM479
KINGSTON SV 100 SSD 64 GB - RM389
SSD are impressive, but the price still overkill
P/S: Despite the high price, SSD unarguably the best choice for serious gamers. However, HDD still hold the biggest market for storage until today. Given that you are going to buy a hard disk, which one will you take?
