Gunkan Jima (Battle Ship Island)

Hashima / Gunkan Jima / Battle Ship Island / Ghost Island ; all refers to the same island situated 15 kilometres from Nagasaki. This island is among other 505 inhabited islands in Nagasaki Prefecture. Mitsubishi (Yes, that Mitsubishi) bought this island in 1890 for coal mining and build some buildings to accommodate their workers. However, Mitsubishi officially closed the mine in 1974 for some reasons and left it empty. Well, I don't want to say anything, but take a look on the images yourself and you figure out how this island got it name.

P/S: RM20 to sleep here alone at night, who wants?
